Nelson George: City Kid - Brooklyn! Brooklyn!
By Nelson | april 27, 2009 | Post a comment
After a book tour that's taken me to Washington DC, the Bay Area and
Los Angeles, I'm back in Brooklyn doing events with the New York Times
at the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library and at the Brooklyn
Historical Society. Following up on this local emphasis I'm back
shooting interviews for my documentary on the black artistic history of
my hood, Fort Greene. Flip video and pix from my City Kid events in New
York and around the nation will soon be popping up on my web site as
well as http://vimeo.com/nelsongeorge.
Also
check out my second Walking Tour of Fort Greene, which includes sites
connected to Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Vernon Reid and Maxwell, as well as
a clip about me from Open Book, a new literary series about to debut.
The Open Book is directed by Diane Paragas, with whom I'm collaborating
on the Fort Greene doc.
FYI I'll be reading City Kid in Boston
June 23 and Chicago July 16 with more details as we get closer to the
dates. Catch ya all down the road. http://vimeo.com/3056713
